Farewell, Little Honda.

Yesterday, I left my apartment to find a note from the JCPD stuck in my mailbox. It read, "Your car was totaled in accident. It was towed to Jack's Towing. Call them!"

I was completely confused. How could my car have been totaled when it was parked? It wasn't even near the corner! The folks at Jack's were kind enough to explain it to me. Apparently, during the horrendous rainstorm on Friday, a minivan smashed into the Ford Escape that was parked BEHIND mine. The force of the impact sent the Escape up over my back bumper and caused this:

Insane!!! Here's what I was able to salvage:

Yes, those are tapes. There's also a kazoo in there somewhere. Note to Beth & Steve- I crawled through broken glass to save that foam finger. I love you guys that much.

I'm trying to look on the bright side- I wasn't in the car when it happened. I don't drive on a daily basis, so it's not like I can't get to work or anything. But I've had the car for 10 years. In that time, I've had 6 addresses, but the Honda was a constant. I'm going to miss her. A lot.

Aw, the foam finger and the Club are touching like E.T. and Elliott.

This sucks at an extreme level. I assume the guy who rammed from behind is responsible, insurance-wise?

My insurance company is going out to look at it tomorrow and will then take the matter up with the person who caused the accident. I'm really hoping this can be resolved quickly...

I hope there was no injury during the foam finger retrieval. I have a secret stash of fingers set aside for accidental finger loss. But if I recall weren't you thinking about selling the Honda when we last met in December?

I may have thought about it, but I never would have gone through with it.

That's what I told him, Therese-talking about it is one thing. Sorry for your loss-thanks for loving us so much!

Oh, I know.
I still haven't taken my Wolfgang remnants, including cassette collection, out of the "new" red minivan, which I call Red Ryder.
I know exactly how you feel! Sorry dude. :(
