Zip-a-dee-do-dah

After an Easter weekend that involved taking the bus from Port Authority to Jackie's, my sister picking me up there on Sunday morning and my parents driving me back to Jersey City on Sunday evening like I was a college student or something, I decided to join ZipCar. Actually, I decided to join the minute I realized that the insurance money would be better spent on a MacBook & a trip to California than another car, but the prospect of sitting on the 194 local again was enough to spur me into action.

I tried it out for the first time today- and, as I suspected, it ruled.  I may become as evangelical about ZipCar as I was about Working Assets long distance, back when I had a landline.

I was surprised how rusty I was after two months of not driving at all.   Seriously, I didn't know what side the gas tank was on, I couldn't figure out how to adjust the mirrors, I almost backed into a parked car...  Eek.  But I got my groove back pretty quickly.   God, I love driving.    I'm surprised how seldom I miss owning a car, but I really miss driving.

I hear you. every time I visit home, it's one big white hassle not having a car up there. Glad Zip Car rules.

AND it gave me an excuse to listen to WKTU and sing along to Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock. Wait, should I be admitting that?
